Jon Bon Jovi recently downplayed his role in saving a woman from jumping off a bridge in Nashville, emphasizing that anyone in his position would have done the same. The incident occurred on September 11th while Bon Jovi and a film crew were on the Seigenthaler Pedestrian Bridge in downtown Nashville, shooting a music video. The woman, who was preparing to jump, was spotted by the crew, prompting Bon Jovi to intervene.
During an interview at the Montclair Film Festival, Jon recalled the incident, highlighting the woman’s coherent state despite her distressing situation. She explained to him that she had been discharged from a hospital with no shoes, phone, or money, and nowhere to go. She assured Jon that she was neither suicidal nor homicidal, but clearly in need of help. Recognizing her situation, Bon Jovi decided to stay with her and talk until professional help arrived.
The incident was captured on video and widely shared. It shows Jon embracing the woman as he helps her climb back over the railing. He credited the police, fire, and emergency rescue teams, as well as a therapist, for their roles in ensuring the woman’s safety and getting her the help she needed. Jon humbly described his involvement as simply being there for someone in need.
