U2 has reissued their 2004 album ‘How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb’ in multiple formats as of this past Friday. The album has been released as an eight-LP or five-CD super deluxe edition, which includes the original album, a compilation of remixes, the complete Vertigo 2005: Live From Chicago show available on YouTube, and a companion album titled How to Re-Assemble an Atomic Bomb. This companion album features 10 songs recorded during the original album sessions, carefully compiled by The Edge.
The Edge expressed his pride in the album, noting how many of its songs are still performed live by the band. He highlighted the immersive mixes that have been done for this reissue, saying, "That record is sounding the best it's ever sounded, I think." In addition to the super deluxe edition, there are also two LP, CD, and cassette versions of the original album, which now include the bonus track "Fast Car."
What makes this reissue particularly special is the inclusion of How to Re-Assemble an Atomic Bomb, referred to by The Edge as their "shadow album." This collection contains previously unreleased songs from the album sessions, some of which only needed final touches. The stand-alone LP will be released this Friday, Record Store Day, with one of its tracks, "Luckiest Man in the World," already available as a digital single.
