The long-in-the-works Bee Gees bio-pic has been placed on hold -- again.
The film was supposed to start production early this year with director Ridley Scott, but in a new interview with GQ he says that Paramount "changed the goalposts. I said, ‘You can’t do that.’ They insisted. I said, ‘Well, I’m going to warn you, I will walk, because I will go on to the next movie.’ They didn’t believe me, and I did."
Scott's next movie is called The Dog Stars and will start shooting in April. However, he does add that he expects to find common ground with Paramount on the deal and for the project to move forward sometime around September.
This Bee Gees project was first started at Paramount in 2021 with Kenneth Branagh on board to direct. He was replaced by John Carney as director in March 2022, but then left in December of that year due to scheduling conflicts. He was replaced by Hustlers director Lorene Scafaria, who left the project in 2023. Scott signed on to direct in January 2024.
