Eddie Van Halen would've turned 70 on Sunday

This Sunday would have marked the 70th birthday of legendary guitarist Eddie Van Halen. Born in Amsterdam on January 26th, 1955, Eddie's innovative guitar techniques and electrifying performances left an indelible mark on rock music. Sadly, he passed away on October 6th, 2020, due to complications from cancer. His legacy, however, continues to inspire musicians and fans around the world.

In a recent interview, Eddie's brother, Alex Van Halen, reflected on whether Eddie was content with his career at the time of his passing. Alex shared, "This is our life. This is what we do. I mean there were times when I would question why are we doing any of this? But that's because you get conditioned to having a certain pattern of you make a record, then you tour, and then you come back and you make the next record. But now you're not really in a situation where you're doing it just for the sake of being creative. Now it's become a business and Ed did not like that one bit at all." This insight reveals the complexities and pressures that come with a successful music career, and how Eddie struggled with the business side of the industry.

When asked if the brothers would have written a book together, similar to Alex's recent release, Brothers, Alex said, "No, I don't think we would have done it."
