Ringo Starr has just released a new clip to YouTube featuring his performance of “It Don’t Come Easy” alongside Sheryl Crow, Mickey Guyton, and Molly Tuttle. This is part of his CBS special, Ringo & Friends at the Ryman, which is set to air on Monday at 7pm on KWTX-TV Channel 10 in Central Texas. The special was captured over two nights in January at Nashville’s iconic Ryman Auditorium and promises to be a star-studded event with appearances by Jack White, Brenda Lee, Billy Strings, Rodney Crowell, and The War and Treaty.
Saturday marks the 55th anniversary of Ringo recording "It Don't Come Easy" at Trident Studios in London back in 1970. The song, co-written and produced by George Harrison, features Harrison on guitar and has become one of Ringo's most beloved hits. Interestingly, the single wasn't released until April 9th, 1971, more than a year after it was recorded. The anniversary adds a special touch to the upcoming CBS special, making it a must-watch for fans.
Reflecting on the song, Ringo shared that there's a particular line in "It Don't Come Easy" that he lives by: "Forget about the past and all your sorrows, the future won't last, it'll soon be your tomorrows." He mentioned, "I said that a long time ago, it's sort of… that's still how I am."
