Earlier this week, Billy Joel announced that he was postponing four months of concert dates to "recover from recent surgery and to undergo physical therapy under the supervision of his doctors." This news sparked speculation about the seriousness of the "medical procedure" he underwent in January. Fans were understandably concerned about the Piano Man's health and what this might mean for his future performances.
Now, a "family member" has provided some reassurance. Sailor Brinkley-Cook, the daughter of Billy’s ex-wife Christie Brinkley and her fourth husband, Peter Cook, who affectionately refers to him as "Uncle Billy," shared that he's "doing great. He’s totally healthy and it’s just some things that he has to deal with. So, I’m excited for him to be able to get back [onstage].”
The postponement affects Billy's North American dates in Detroit, Toronto, Syracuse, Salt Lake City, Charlotte, and Milwaukee, as well as dates in Edinburgh, Scotland, and Liverpool, England. The Detroit show with Stevie Nicks has been rescheduled for November 15th, while the other shows will now take place in 2026. Current tickets will be valid for the new dates. At 75, Billy Joel is expected to resume touring on July 15th at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh, much to the relief and anticipation of his legions of fans.
