Prince fans get a big treat

In celebration of the 40th anniversary of ‘Around The World In A Day,’ Prince’s estate has unveiled the first-ever digital release of the newly remastered 21-minute extended version of “America.” Originally released in 1985 as the final single from the album, “America” was described by Prince himself as “straightforwardly patriotic.” Until now, this extended 12-inch version had only been available on vinyl, with the original recording session famously ending when “the tape ran out.”

The track has been newly remastered by legendary engineer Bernie Grundman, bringing fresh clarity and depth to the already dynamic piece. Adding to the experience, it’s also been mixed in Dolby Atmos by Chris James, a GRAMMY-nominated engineer and Prince protégé, giving listeners a fully immersive audio journey. The song, recorded in the summer of 1984, made its live debut in 1985 at The Forum and became a staple in Prince’s live performances well into the 2000s.

The song is now available on all major streaming platforms.
