At the Shallote River Swamp Park in North Carolina they experienced frigid temperatures and the alligators in their swamp knew just what to do to get through it.
They slow down their heart rates and breathing to enter into a dormant state. Then at the exact moment the water is freezing up and turning to ice around them, they push their snouts through the get air while they hybernate.
So cool! I never knew.
