STUDY: CLEVER PEOPLE MORE LIKELY TO DRINK ALCOHOL

STUDY: CLEVER PEOPLE ARE MORE LIKELY TO DRINK ALCOHOL: Raise your class, science says clever people are more likely to drink alcohol. Published in the British medical journal Open, researchers looked at over 6,000 young people in England. The scientists discovered participants with high test scores at age 11 were more likely to regularly drink and use marijuana, and were less likely to smoke cigarettes. Study co-author James Williams adds, "Higher-ability adolescents are more open to trying cannabis but are initially cautious of illegal substances in early adolescence as they are more aware of the immediate long-term repercussions that breaking the law might incur."
