James Taylor and Bonnie Raitt have just announced the full itinerary of their summer tour together, The pair had previously announced ball field shows at AT&T Park in San Francisco, Wrigley Field in Chicago, Fenway Park in Boston, and Nationals Park in Washington, D.C. As it stands now, the trek will begin on July 6th at Newark, New Jersey's Prudential Center and wrap on August 11th at Boston's Fenway Park.
James Taylor explained that as opposed to other types of artists, by the nature of how he works, he's revealing himself pretty much every time out: ["Y'know, I'm sort of self-assembled, or self-concocted out of what surrounded me, when. . . as I was coming up and what music I heard. And I think that that's part of it. But in a case such as mine, where I play guitar and I write tunes and I sing them too, you get a lot of the person involved. Particularly, the kind of, y'know, the autobiographical self. . . we'll self-centered, actually kind of work that I do. So, in my case, what I'm doing largely is just communicating my inner self as much as possible."
- Bonnie Raitt's live shows have always been the stuff of legend. She told us a while back that revamping her setlists comes part and parcel with being a dynamic concert performer:
- ["A lot of it is just moving things around in the set and pulling things out of the hat that I haven't played in a long time. And I don't want to give away the surprises, but I've unearthed some gems from a long time that even I haven't played in 25 years. So, it's really spontaneous and a lot of it depends on the spirit of the audience.]
