The Who Announces Summer Concert Dates

The Who has announced four concert dates for just prior to its initial six-show Las Vegas stand at The Colosseum At Caesars Palace. New stops now on the books include July gigs in Canandaigua, New York at Constellation Brands - Marvin Sands PAC; Oxon Hill, Maryland at Theater At MGM National Harbor; Atlantic City, New Jersey at Atlantic City Boardwalk Hall; and Grand Rapids, Michigan at Van Andel Arena.

Roger Daltrey admitted to us that it only takes a brief amount of warm-up to get himself and the band in shape for a tour: ["Who songs I don't really need to rehearse. I mean, we haven't got dancers and backing singers, y'know, loads of miming to deal with, so we don't really need that long. Musicians, good musicians can learn songs quite quickly. I don't like to over-rehearse, 'cause I find if you over-rehearse, things stop growing on the stage."]

  • Part of the reason for Pete Townshend's eagerness to play out with the Who over the past two decades is his connection with drummer Zak Starkey -- son of Ringo Starr and child protege of Keith Moon: ["He studied at the feet of Keith Moon. He was eight-years-old when I first met him, his dad is Ringo Starr, but Keith Moon bought him his first drum kit. He was a big Who fan as a kid. So when John (Entwistle) passed away, suddenly there was Zak and I -- and then what I realized is that he and I have this extraordinary chemistry. And it's innate. It's a chemistry that's based on the fact that whatever I do, he's already doing it."]
