Love is the air — or at least in the movies! If you're looking for a film with a sweet "meet cute" to watch with your partner on Valentine's Day or want to celebrate Galentine's with a group of your best friends, or even if you simply want to watch two attractive people fall in love in the most charming ways, romantic comedies are your best bet.

Romantic comedies remind you that love may be just around the corner or could happen when you least expect it. Top that off with a dash of hilarity, and perhaps the magic touch of rom-com queen Nora Ephron, and you've got yourself a hit movie. Haper's Bazaar compiled a list of the 40 best rom-coms of all time that "stand the test of time," and the charming film in the No. 1 spot remains a classic for a reason, even decades after its release.

Claiming the top spot on the list is When Harry Met Sally. This beloved 1989 film, starring Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal and directed by the late great Rob Reiner, is the epitome of the friends to lovers trope the genre is known for. Here's what the site had to say about this film about two longtime friends falling in love:

"When Harry Met Sally is written by Nora Ephron and stars Billy Crystal and Meg Ryan as friends trying to prove that men and women can remain platonic. After initially hating one another, Harry and Sally eventually decide to be friends. Set over a sprawling time period, Harry and Sally's friendship never fades, even when their lives become incredibly complicated."

Other popular rom-coms include Clueless, To All the Boys I've Loved Before, How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days, Crazy Rich Asians, The Philadelphia Story, How Stella Got Her Groove Back, Set It Up and more. Check out the full list at Harper's Bazaar.
