Vegetarian Paul McCartney has signed a letter urging UK schools to stop serving only meat options, and offer more veggie and vegan food, according to The Guardian.
“No one needs to eat meat, so it shouldn’t be mandatory to serve it in schools,” McCartney wrote in the letter addressed to UK education secretary Gavin Williamson. “It’s time to revise the School Food Standards to help the planet, spare animals, and promote healthy eating.”
According to "The Guardian," school guidelines call for dairy to be served every day, meat and poultry three or more times a week, and non-dairy proteins for vegetarians at least three times a week.
