Chad Stuart, who sang with Jeremy Clyde in the popular British invasion duo Chad & Jeremy, has passed away.He turned 79 back on December 10th.
The duo was best known for the ballads "A Summer Song," "Willow Weep for Me" and "Yesterday's Gone." Chad and Jeremy performed on TV variety shows like Hullaballoo, Shindig and The Hollywood Palace, and the pair played fictional versions of themselves on The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Patty Duke Show and Batman -- in an episode where Julie Newmar’s Catwoman stole their voices!
They broke up in the late 1960s, and Chad eventually settled in the U.S. Jeremy concentrated on acting roles in England. They briefly reunited for a 2003 PBS special and toured occasionally until Stuart retired in 2016.
According to the Chad and Jeremy Facebook page, Stuart died of non-COVID-related pneumonia after being hospitalized after a recent fall. The post read, "The family would like to thank his fans from around the world for the outpouring of birthday wishes and gifts he received every year. Chad took the time to read each and every card. The world has lost a legend today, but his voice will continue to touch our lives through his music."
