Carole King, Jennifer Hudson and Jamie Hartman teamed up to write the song “Here I Am (Singing My Way Home)” for the new Aretha Franklin bio-pic ‘Respect.”
The song will be sung by Jennifer Hudson in the movie and now it has been released.
Hudson (who portrays Aretha in the movie) says, "Music is such a living and breathing character in this film, as it was in Ms. Franklin's life.”
Jennifer added, “The process of creating this song was like constructing the greatest tribute I could possibly offer to her spirit.” She also said, "It was the final exhale of this extraordinary project and one that I let out with complete fulfillment."
“Here I Am (Singing My Way Home)” will be the only original song featured in the film. The bio-pic will be in theaters starting August 13th.The song will also qualify for Oscar consideration and it’ll be featured on the film’s soundtrack.
