Ringo Starr celebrated his 81st birthday on Wednesday with his annual "Peace and Love" event.
Since 2008, every year on his birthday, Ringo has invited fans from around the world to think, say or post #peaceandlove at noon local time. Most of his “peace and love” birthday events in the past were held in the front of the Capitol Records tower in Hollywood, including fans and live music.
Because of the pandemic last year, Ringo held his virtual “Ringo’s Big Birthday Show.”This year the rock ‘n roll legend held a private press conference in front of his Peace and Love statue at Beverly Gardens Park in Beverly Hills.
He was joined by wife Barbara Bach, brother-in-law Joe Walsh, along with All-Star Band members Steve Lukather and Gregg Bissonette. The event was fairly low key compared to previous Ringo birthday events but still very special to the rock ‘n roll legend.
Ringo said, “Yeah, it’s special. Last year Barbara and I came down on our own, just to keep it going in our minds. And it went on on Zoom in some countries, but y’know it’s a little bigger this year, that’s all I can ask for, and next year, you never know.”
