Led Zeppelin fans are still waiting for more on the group’s upcoming documentary, Becoming Led Zeppelin, but we have learned the film will run two hours and 17 minutes.
That length is 10 minutes less than what was reported in 2020.The movie’s director Bernard MacMahon has said his goal is to make the film look and feel like a musical.
He said, . "I wanted to weave together the four diverse stories of the band members before and after they formed their group with large sections of their story advanced using only music and imagery and to contextualize the music with the locations where it was created and the world events that inspired it.”
McMahon added, “I used only original prints and negatives, with over 70,000 frames of footage manually restored, and devised fantasia sequences, inspired by Singin’ In the Rain, layering unseen performance footage with montages of posters, tickets and travel to create a visual sense of the freneticism of their early career.”
The film is expected to premiere at the Venice International Film Festival September 1st, running through September 11th.
