Robert Plant has said he believes some rock ‘n roll bands have an expiration date. In a recent interview, Plant takes a shot at older bands that still play together.
The Led Zeppelin front man told ‘Mojo’ that bands begin to look “sadly decrepit” after they’ve played together for decades. Plant and Led Zeppelin haven’t performed live themselves since 2007, and only rarely before that.
Plant said, “Most musicians form a band, then they stay in the band until it’s over — 20 years, 30 years, 50 years, whatever it is — and it starts to look sadly decrepit,” he says. “It’s like people hanging onto a life raft, or staying in a comfortable place.”
