Sheryl Crow revealed in a new interview that she was sexually harassed while touring as a backup singer during Michael Jackson’s “Bad” tour in the 80’s.
Sheryl said, “One of the things I hadn't really talked about was my experience with being sexually harassed on the Michael Jackson tour.”
She appeared on the “Making Space” podcast with Hoda Kotb and said, “It is one of those things where we've come so far but yet we've barely gotten our feet in the room yet, you know? We've got one foot, and — it's emotional to talk about.”
Sheryl said the abuser eventually got fired as Jackson’s manager has since died. Sheryl did say she does “feel healed” from the experience. Sheryl said the “most troubling” part is that women don’t feel that they can talk about it out of fear of getting fired or it falling “on deaf ears.”
The music star also said the experience changed saying before it happened she was “very naïve.” Sheryl said “I was raised to believe that if you're a good person, if you work hard, all good things happen. And that wasn’t the way it was.”
