ABBA never toured and there are reasons why

ABBA have always been known for their well-crafted sound…and for their refusal to tour.Bjorn Ulvaeus recently talked about that very thing.

Bjorn Ulvaeus told Variety that the group pulled off the road early on to hone their music, and he has no regrets about it. Bjorn, who wrote the group's song with Benny Andersson, said, "In those early years, before ABBA won the Eurovision song contest [with 'Waterloo' in 1974], we had to go on tour in various [ways], we had to write for other people, produce other people, we did this and that to pay the rent."

That changed when “Waterloo,” hit #1 around the world. Bjorn said, "Suddenly the copyright money started pouring in, and we made the decision: 'The only thing we’re going to do is write and record ABBA -- nothing else' The fact that we developed and became good songwriters came from us not touring, and just concentrating on the most important thing of all. I believe that’s why we’re sitting here today."

In a recent interview in The Guardian, Benny said their new album, ‘Voyage’ will be their last.

He said, “This is it. It’s got to be, you know. I didn’t actually say that ‘this is it’ in 1982. I never said myself that ABBA was never going to happen again. But I can tell you now: This is it..."

‘Voyage’ will be released on November 5th.
