A lawsuit filed by a trustee for the estate of Spirit guitarist Randy California first filed a lawsuit against Led Zeppelin over “Stairway To Heaven” in 2014.Robert Plant has commented on the lawsuit.
The suit claims that “Stairway To Heaven” violated the copyright of the 1968 song “Taurus” by Spirit. Led Zeppelin has won three legal judgments, with the most recent happening when the U.S. Supreme Court declined to hear the case back in 2020.
Robert Plant, during an interview with BBC Radio 4, recently said, “There are zillions and zillions of songs that were carrying the same chord progression,” adding that “it was very unfortunate, and it was unpleasant for everybody.”
