Sinead O’Connor has apologized for lashing out at Ireland’s Child and Family Agency, Tusla, on Twitter last weekend over what she saw as inaction in regard to her son Shane’s suicide last week.
In a new series of tweets from Monday, Sinead wrote, “Tusla are working with very limited resources. They loved Shane. They are broken-hearted. They are human. I am sorry I have upset them. We are a third world country. It’s not their fault.” She later tweeted, “Tusla did their best. We all did, and I am deeply sorry to have blamed anyone.”
In a separate tweet, Sinead also spoke of the low number of hospital beds available in Ireland. She posted, "We have 12 beds in special care for suicidal teenagers. And no resources to save those who can’t manage life. 128 icu beds in the whole country."
O'Connor also said she thinks Shane’s cremation will take place on Thursday with only she and Shane's his father, folk musician Donal Lunny, present, as he requested in his suicide note.
