REO Speedwagon has finally returned with their full lineup after being shorthanded since January when guitarist Dave Amato tested positive for COVID.
REO vocalist Kevin Cronin says, "As much fun as it was having to create a whole new show on a moment’s notice for our January concerts, and as grateful as I am to all of the awesome REO fans who came out and supported those very unique performances, I had a great time on stage with the full REO Speedwagon [last week] in Salina, Kansas.”
He went on to add, "Dave is fully recovered, and our band is back at full strength…all systems go! I always look for the silver lining in any tough situation, and we learned some valuable lessons in playing those shorthanded shows. We took that knowledge, integrated some awesome sonic improvements into last [week's] concert, and I had a blast singing and playing. We are looking forward to these next February shows with the full band sounding better than ever."
The group recruited Sammy Hagar and the Circle guitarist Vic Johnson to pitch in during Amato’s absence since REO Speedwagon and Hagar have the same manager.
The group will wrap up their February dates tonight in Rochester, Minnesota. They’ll resume with a show out in Midland/Odessa on March 11th.
This summer REO Speedwagon will tourl with Styx and Loverboy.
