Paul McCartney kicks off his first tour since 2019

Paul McCartney is back on the road for the first time in three years has he kicks off his his Got Back tour this evening. He will play Dickies Arena in Fort Worth on May 17th.

The tour will feature a production containing video clips from last year's Get Back Beatles documentary. McCartney will play 16 shows in arenas and stadiums through June 16th in East Rutherford, New Jersey – a couple of days before his 80th birthday.

McCartney talked about the tour, saying, “I said at the end of the last tour that I’d see you next time. I said I was going to get back to you. Well, I got back!” He’ll play in Spokane tonight and that will be his first show since his Freshen Up tour ended on July 13th, 2019 at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles.

McCartney just posted a video that combined rehearsal footage from this tour along with concert clips set to The Beatles' song "Get Back." Sir Paul said, "I'm really excited to see those happy faces. We try and bring them some peace, love and a little bit of joy in these dark days."

McCartney also talked about choosing his concert set list:

"I just think, 'What would I want to see,' because that probably is what an average...it's not easy to define what an average fan is or an average fan of mine. But I actually do it by just looking into my own mind and think, 'What would I have to see him do?' So with that in mind, that's how we put the show together. There's some stuff I've never played before, so that keeps it fresh for me and I think that will be interesting for the audience."
