Michael Anthony has confirmed that he's in talks about joining a Van Halen tribute tour.
Anthony did say on The Mitch Lafon and Jeremy White Show podcast, he was somewhat surprised to hear that Metallica bassist Jason Newsted was also contacted about being part of it.
Anthony said, "I don't know if it was just nothing more than everyone talking, but I did have some talks with Dave [Lee Roth] and Alex [Van Halen] last year, so I'm not really sure what the Jason Newsted thing came out of because we had been discussing this for well over a year. As far as right now, everything's pretty quiet and I hope something happens in the future here. It's more of like a celebration of the band and the music rather than calling it Van Halen. Obviously with Eddie [Van Halen] being probably the most integral part of the whole band, you can't really call it Van Halen after that."
Rock ‘n roll guitar legend Joe Satriani was also asked to be part of the tribute tour, and Roth also mentioned Toto's Steve Lukather and Motley Crue's Tommy Lee have been asked to consider joining.
