Maneskin is thrilled about their recent cover of the classic Elvis Presley ballad “If I Can Dream” for the soundtrack of the upcoming Baz Luhrmann’s movie “Elvis.” Luhrmann suggested that the song be remade with more tempo. Talking about the suggestion, Maneskin lead vocalist Damiano David said, “[Luhrmann] had this really cool, super-smart idea, because it would have been so easy to give us an up-tempo song and go super rock-ish.”
However, David said, “He saw that between the lines that we were going to be able to give something else to show the sweet side of Elvis. I think we did a great job!” Talking about the contemporary meaning of the song’s message of unity, David says, “We’re really proud of what we did, and to be a part of this project.”
“Elvis” opens in theaters on June 24th.The release date for the soundtrack which also features Kacey Musgraves, Doja Cat, Eminem, Tame Impala, Stevie Nicks, Jack White, Chris Issak, and more, hasn’t been made public yet.
