Bret Michaels would love to do a new version of an AC/DC classic

Bret Michaels has said he doesn’t feel a sense of urgency to record a new Poison album, but he would like to record a new song—a modern take on AC/DC’s “You Shook Me All Night Long.”

Michaels spoke to his hometown newspaper, the Arizona Republic, and said, "I know I could get outvoted on this, but I said, 'Guys, I beg you. Let's just write a straight-up rock song.' A 'Nothin' But a Good Time', but modern. 'Talk Dirty to Me'. A great guitar riff, good lyrics, a hook in the chorus. Just something that's fun for us to write. And who knows? Maybe it could be a modern-day [AC/DC] 'You Shook Me All Night Long'."

When asked why no urgency for a full Poison album, Bret replied, "You give us a whole album, you'll get the best prize fight you've ever seen."

Michaels said these days the band is getting along "great," adding that, "No one has ever made me laugh harder or been through as much as we've been through together, from the ground up. I'm talking the basement, sump-pump water on the floor. We're definitely four uniquely different personalities. But on that stage, it's electric."

Poison hasn’t released an all-original album since Hollyweird in 2002. They followed that up in 2007 with the covers album, Poison'd.

Poison are currently on The Stadium Tour with Def LeppardMotley Crue and Joan Jett.
