There’s a new release from the Tom Petty archives. ‘Live at the Fillmore (1997)’ was captured during Petty’s 20-night run at that iconic San Francisco venue.
This is the first live album from Petty & The Heartbreakers in 13 years.It will be released on November 25th on two CDs, four CDs, three LPs, or two six-LP sets that contain 58 tracks, 35 of which are cover songs, totaling over four hours of music.
This album features, including Bob Dylan’s “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door,” J.J. Cale’s “Crazy Mama,” The Rolling Stones’ “Time Is on My Side,” as well as those from The Kinks, Everly Brothers, Bill Withers, The Byrds, Chuck Berry and Booker T. & the M.G.’s.
The collection also features collaborations with The Byrds' Roger McGuinn and blues legend John Lee Hooker.
Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell said, “Playing the Fillmore in 1997 for a month was one of my favorite experiences as a musician in my whole life."
He added, "The band was on fire and we changed the set list every night. The room and the crowd was spiritual... AND... we got to play with some amazing guests. I will always remember those nights with joy and inspiration."
At the final show of the run, the late Tom Petty said, “We all feel this might be the high point of our time together as a group… It’s going to be hard to get us off this stage tonight.”
Along with the announcement of the release is a live version of “Listen To Her Heart” with a new video.
