A Barbra Streisand live album from six decades ago is finally being released. ‘Barbra Streisand — Live at the Bon Soir,’ was supposed to be her debut album but was never issued. It will be released on November 4th.
The album was recorded at the Greenwich Village Bon Soir club November 4th through 6th in 1962, a month after she signed her record deal with Columbia Records. It features 24 songs, but was never released after the label instead decided to release a studio album, ’The Barbra Streisand Album,” a year later in 1963. Streisand went on to win Album of the Year at the Grammy’s that year.
Streisand said, “These early tapes have been sleeping in my vault for six decades.” She added, “I’m delighted to finally bring them out into the light and share what could have been my debut album.”
