Sammy Hagar said he’d recently been asked by Van Halen manager Irving Azoff if he’d like to be part of an event with Michael Anthony and Alex Van Halen during an interview with Eddie Trunk.
Hagar said he responded that he would love to play with the two of them anytime, “but it’s not going to be Van Halen. There is no Van Halen.”
Hagar then corrected himself and discussed Eddie Van Halen’s son Wolfgang. Hagar said, “Wolfie is Van Halen, okay? And he doesn’t wanna be the Van Halen copy band. He’s Van Halen, and if he wanted to play guitar with Al and Mikey and myself, I would love to do that.”
Sammy also confirmed that he’s not on speaking terms with David Lee Roth, saying that a tribute show might never happen.
