The super power that is Dolly Parton has convinced Steve Perry to revisit a big Journey classic.
Dolly told Access Hollywood backstage at the Rock Hall induction ceremony in L.A. last Saturday night that the upcoming rock and roll album she’s recording will feature Steve Perry, who will join her on a duet of Journey’s biggest hit “Open Arms.”
Steve confirmed that news on Monday, tweeting a link to the story with a caption reading "If Dolly says it’s true, then it must be true… her voice is amazing!"
Steve Perry once commented on “Open Arms,” saying, “Jonathan Cain had just joined Journey. He had just quit The Babys, and he brought over a Wurlitzer piano that he had been using on a Babys tour. And he said, ‘I have this idea – John Waite didn’t like it.’ ‘Well, what’s wrong with it?’ He says, ‘Well, he thought it was too syrupy.’ And he played the melody and I said, ‘Well, all I can tell you is that’s a beautiful melody and I think we should write a song around it and finish this thing.’ We finished it together that day.”
Dolly also said that Steven Tyler of Aerosmith will appear on her project. She also mentioned covering an Elton John song.
