Two new videos the classic “American Girl” by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were released last week.
One clip was co-directed by Petty's daughter Adria and Jacques Naudé. It accompanied last Friday's release of the box set Live at the Fillmore 1997. The video features many American girls, including four dancing to Tom's live version, which ends with a snippet of Full Moon Fever's "Alright for Now" over the video's credits.
The second video is also an all new a live version. It was produced by Heartbreakers Benmont Tench and Mike Campbell for the Late Show with Stephen Colbert in the band's recording and rehearsal space, The Clubhouse. Tench sings and plays piano and Campbell accompanies him on guitar in the video, which was tweeted by The Late Show on Friday.
