Queen guitarist Brian May has made King Charles's New Year Honours list and the rock ‘n roll legend will be knighted for his services to music and to charity.
May said, “I'm happy and grateful to receive this honor. I will regard the knighthood not so much as a reward, but more as a charge -- a commission -- for me to continue to fight for justice, to be a voice for those who have no voice. I will endeavor to be worthy -- to be that Knight in Shining Armour.”
Then over the weekend, May took to social media to comment more on the honor. He also said,
"Thank you so much for all your messages of congratulations following the announcement of my knighthood. I'm very thrilled and very touched by the love that's come from you and the support. I will do my very best to be worthy. For now, goodnight and thank you and much love from Sir Bri."
May, who is also an animal rights activist, was made Commander of the Order of the British Empire back in 2005.May’s full title is now Sir Brian Harold May CBE, and his wife of 22 years, British actress Anita Dobson, may use the title of Lady May.
