Jason Bonham said he recently uncovered a box of reel-to-reel Led Zeppelin studio tapes his late father -- drummer John Bonham -- had brought home from a recording session to listen to.
Jason spoke on The Vinyl Guide podcast, and said that he has yet to unbox the tapes and he’s a bit worried that they may have deteriorated over time to the point where "you put them in the machine and it just erases them the moment you press start."
He may try to bake them at a low temperature before he actually tries to play them -- a method used to save old reel-to-reel tapes.
Jason suggested that when he finally unboxes the tapes he may do it on YouTube. Once he's discovered what's on the tapes, he would then like to figure out with Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones if there's anything previously unheard and, if so, what to do with them.
