Pete Townshend says he’s always enjoyed working with his wife, composer Rachel Fuller.
In a recent interview, Townshend said what makes it easy is that she likes to work quickly. That fact was evident with his new song, "Can't Outrun the Truth," which Rachel wrote and produced.
Pete said, "I'm not a great collaborator with songwriting as you know. You're a really good collaborator. So it's good. It's good for me. I learn a lot from being in a marriage with you and being involved in your creative cycle. And in the middle of it, to have a song that you've actually created sung by somebody that you love and that you care about -- and we do stuff together if it fits. And it fits a lot of the time."
"Can't Outrun the Truth" is Townshend's first solo song in 29 years. The accompanying video is his first since "English Boy" from his album Psychoderelict in 1993.
Proceeds from download and vinyl sales of “Can’t Outrun the Truth” will go to the Teenage Cancer Trust U.K., his charity with Who bandmate Roger Daltrey.
