Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen was on ‘Good Morning America’ Monday and talked about being assaulted in March outside the Four Seasons hotel in Fort Lauderdale where the band had just played a show.
Rick said, "I heard a couple of steps, and then I just saw this dark sort of flash. And the next thing I knew was I was on the ground. I landed on my backside and then continued on, hit my head on the pavement… I reached my hand up into the air ’cause I thought I was gonna get attacked again. And I just said, 'I am no threat to you.' I don't think he knew who I was. But he must've seen that I wasn't a threat because, you know, I've only got one arm."
The assailant was revealed to be 19-year-old Max Edward Hartley from Ohio.
When a nearby woman ran out to help, Harley attacked her, before leaving the scene, according to the police report. The suspect was later arrested breaking car windows near the same hotel.
Allen did cooperate with police and pressed charges.
Def Leppard just kicked off The Stadium Tour with Motley Crue Monday in their hometown of Sheffield, England.
