Rod Stewart is changing musical lanes

Rod Stewart said he’s planning to go in a different musical direction. The rock ‘n roll legend wants to focus more on singing traditional American standards.

Rod appeared on BBC Breakfast and said, "I'm not retiring, but I want to move on to ... you know, I had great success with The Great American Songbook, all-American standards, and I've just done a swing album with Jools Holland, which is going to come out next year. So, I want to go in that direction. So, I just want to leave all the rock and roll stuff behind — for a while, maybe. Everything has to come to an end sooner or later. I'm really looking forward to doing something else, especially singing with Jools' band. It borders on rock and roll anyway, it's just not 'Maggie May' and 'Do Ya Think I'm Sexy?'"

Rod kicks a U,K, tour on June 24th in Plymouth, England with Boy George and Culture Club opening. The two acts will perform together each night on the tour.
