The third anniversary of Eddie Van Halen's death -- October 6th, 2020 -- will be marked by the release of a new Van Halen box set which will focus on the Sammy Hagar era.
The Collection 2 will feature remastered versions of the four albums they recorded -- 5150, OU812, For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge, and Balance -- along with disc of eight studio rarities recorded between 1989 and 2004.
Included:
- “A Apolitical Blues” - instrumental Little Feat cover left off vinyl version of OU812
- “Crossing Over” - B-side to "Can't Stop Lovin' You" off Balance
- “Baluchitherium” - instrumental left off vinyl version of Balance
- “Humans Being” - Twister soundtrack
- “Respect the Wind” - Twister soundtrack
The box set will also feature "It's About Time," "Up for Breakfast" and "Learning to See," which were both recorded during their reunion with Hagar in 2004 and released that same year on their Best of Both Worlds compilation.
The Collection 2 is the follow-up to The Collection, a compilation released back in 2015 that focused on the six studio albums recorded with David Lee Roth. It will be available on five vinyl discs and five CDs.
Van Halen just released the remastered version of "Humans Being," the last song Hagar recorded with them during his first go-round, featured one the soundtrack to the 1996 movie Twister.
