‘Songs You Know by Heart: Jimmy Buffett’s Greatest Hit(s)’ has re-entered the ‘Billboard 200’ at #4, its highest ranking ever, and its first week in the Top 10 and Top 40 since its initial release in 1985.
It's Jimmy Buffett’s 13th Top 10-charting album.
Mark Knopfler commented on Buffett's passing. He said, “Jimmy and his band were a pleasure to be around and I’m sure they’ll have a mountain of happy memories of their friend and leader. In the few short years of our friendship I’m proud Jimmy recorded a couple of my songs and glad that he enjoyed playing ‘Oldest Surfer on the Beach’ on his stage shows. Our condolences go out to Jimmy’s family at this time.”
Michael McDonald commented. He said, "Jimmy Buffett, by way of his songwriting, took his 'Gulf and Western' brand to a whole new level of Americana! Reaching success far beyond anything the record business alone could have provided him, yet always retaining the heart of a wanderlust troubadour.
"His music will always point us toward the sandy beaches and blue seas of our mind and hearts." Buffett passed away on September 1st from skin cancer at the age of 76.
