Kylie Minogue has been in the music industry for over three decades. She has faced criticism for being too young, and now, she is getting blasted for being "too old" -- but she thanks Gen Z for not being down with ageism.
She tells Radio Times, “They don’t really see my age, which is kind of funny because I started so young, and if there was any detrimental aspect to that, it was, ‘You’re so young, what do you know, how can you be credible?’ I think we’re in a time where it’s not cool to be ageist. People are over it...”
Minogue says she has learned to embrace her age and celebrate her achievements. She says, “I spoke about it on my album Golden, saying, ‘We’re not young, we’re not old, we’re golden, you can only be who you are at that point in time.’”
Golden was Minogue's 14th studio album, released in 2018. It was inspired by her trip to Nashville, where she experimented with country and dance music. The album received positive reviews from critics and fans, and debuted at number one in the UK and Australia.
Minogue is currently promoting her 15th studio album, 'Disco,' which will be released on November 6th. The album is a return to her dance-pop roots, with influences from the 70s and 80s disco era. The lead single, "Say Something", was released in July and became a hit on streaming platforms.
Minogue says she hopes her new album will bring joy and happiness to her listeners during these challenging times. She says, “I just want to share some love and some light and some fun with everyone.”
