David Lee Roth has shared another song from his unreleased album that he recorded with guitarist John 5, who is now a member of Motley Crue. The song is titled "Hi-Fashion Girl" and it opens with lyrics taken from the 1964 Beatles song, "Do You Want to Know a Secret" -- "You'll never know how much I really love you / You'll never know how much I really care."
The song is a catchy rock tune with a retro vibe and a playful attitude. Roth sings about a girl who is "high fashion" and "high maintenance" and who makes him feel "like a million bucks." He also references some famous fashion icons, such as Coco Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, and Christian Dior. The song ends with Roth saying "more like that" and then fading out.
"Hi-Fashion Girl" follows last month's release of "The **** That Killed Elvis," of which he did two versions — "unplugged" and what he calls "technicolor." Both songs are part of a collection of songs that Roth and John 5 recorded in 2007, but never released. In 2013, Roth said that these songs were for a jukebox musical named Somewhere Over the Rainbow Bar & Grill, which is the name of one of the songs he previously released.
Roth has been sharing these songs on his website and social media platforms, along with some artwork and videos. Fans can listen to "Hi-Fashion Girl" and other songs on his website or on YouTube. Roth has not revealed if he plans to release the entire album or the musical, but he has hinted that there are more songs to come. He has also expressed his admiration for John 5, calling him "one of the most brilliant guitarists I've ever worked with."
