Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You" is once again the number-one song in the country, according to the latest ‘Billboard Hot 100’ chart. The festive tune, which was released in 1994, has reclaimed the top spot from Brenda Lee's "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree," which had been number-one for the past two weeks.
This is the 13th week overall that Carey's song has been at number-one, making it the second-longest-running number-one song in Billboard history, behind Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road," which spent 19 weeks on top. It is also the fifth consecutive holiday season that Carey's song has reached number-one, a feat that no other song has achieved.
Additionally, this is the sixth time that Carey's song has ascended to number-one, breaking the record for the most separate climbs to the top of the chart. The previous record holders were Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night” and Harry Styles’ “As It Was,” both of which had five ascents to number-one.
Carey's song has become a perennial favorite among listeners and fans, especially during the holiday season. It has also earned Carey numerous accolades and honors, including a Guinness World Record for the highest-charting holiday song by a solo artist, and a spot in the Library of Congress' National Recording Registry.
Carey has expressed her gratitude and joy for the enduring success of her song, which she co-wrote and co-produced with Walter Afanasieff. She recently tweeted, "WOW! I truly wasn't expecting this at all!! Eternally grateful for the enduring success of this song. I don't even know how to thank you my incredible fans and supporters!!"
