Pat Benatar and her husband Neil Giraldo have announced plans to revise their musical, "Invincible". The show, a modern interpretation of Shakespeare's "Romeo & Juliet", uses the couple's music to narrate the timeless tale of star-crossed lovers.
After receiving mixed reviews during its 2022 run, the duo has decided to overhaul the production entirely.
In an interview with Billboard, Benatar revealed that they are "tearing it to shreds and starting over." She explained that they have the freedom to do so as the show hasn't yet made its way off-Broadway. The revised version will retain the original's essence but incorporate many different elements. Giraldo further added that the new direction might involve going back to the very beginning, admitting that the previous version had become "a little messy."
The 2022 version of "Invincible" featured several of Benatar and Giraldo's most iconic songs, including “Love Is a Battlefield,” “Heartbreaker,” “We Belong,” and the title track. While there is no set timeline for the completion of the revisions, Benatar hinted that the revamped musical could reopen in Giraldo's hometown of Cleveland.
