The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Foundation is set to host its 39th annual induction ceremony this Saturday at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, the home of the Hall of Fame and museum. To be eligible for induction, artists must have released their first record at least 25 years prior.
In the Performer Category, which honors artists whose music has significantly impacted the course of rock & roll, several notable names will be inducted. This year’s inductees include Mary J. Blige, Cher, Dave Matthews Band, Foreigner, Peter Frampton, Kool & the Gang, Ozzy Osbourne, and A Tribe Called Quest. The Musical Influence Award will posthumously honor Alexis Korner and Big Mama Thornton, while John Mayall will also be recognized. The Musical Excellence Award will be given to Jimmy Buffett, MC5, Dionne Warwick, and Norman Whitfield. Additionally, Suzanne de Passe will receive the Ahmet Ertegun Award for her significant contributions as a Motown executive.
The ceremony will feature performances and presentations by a host of music legends. Slash, Sammy Hagar, Kelly Clarkson, Demi Lovato, and Chad Smith will honor Foreigner, with Hagar also inducting them. Roger Daltrey will induct Peter Frampton, who will perform with Keith Urban. Dua Lipa will perform for Cher, inducted by Zendaya, while James Taylor, Kenny Chesney, and Mac McAnally will celebrate the late Jimmy Buffett. Julia Roberts will induct Dave Matthews Band, and Ella Mai will perform with Mary J. Blige, inducted by Dr. Dre and Method Man. Other performers include Busta Rhymes, Lucky Daye, and The Roots.
The event will stream live on Disney+ at 7 p.m. Eastern, with a highlights show airing on ABC on New Year’s Day. We’ll carry the broadcast beginning at 7 p.m. Central on BIG 95 KBGO and on our free iHeartRadio app.
