Christine McVie auction fetches big bucks for charity

Items from the estate of the late Christine McVie fetched significantly higher prices at auction than anticipated. Julien’s Auctions reported that the collection of over 650 items from the late Fleetwood Mac singer-keyboardist garnered a total of $1.3 million, more than three times the original estimate. The proceeds from this auction will benefit MusiCares and several other charities.

Among the standout items was an Edward Reginald Frampton painting titled “St. Cecilia,” which had adorned McVie’s London home and sold for an impressive $190,500. A Patek Philippe stainless steel and diamond “Aquanaut” wristwatch also drew significant attention, selling for $50,800—five times its estimated value of $10,000. Additionally, a Fleetwood Mac stage-played Hammond XK-5 Heritage Series organ fetched $52,000, nearly eight times its initial estimate.

Other big items included McVie’s 1998 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Award, which sold for $38,100, nearly four times its estimate, and the Rumours RIAA 21-times Platinum Sales Award, which brought in $22,750, almost five times the expected amount.

Christine’s rock ‘n roll legacy continues on with fans and collectors alike.
