Sonny Bono, who tragically passed away in a skiing accident in 1998, is not a member of the Hall. Cher’s comments highlight the challenges and mixed emotions she has faced regarding her induction.
Backstage, Cher addressed her previous criticisms of the Hall, admitting to a “love-hate relationship” with the institution. She candidly talked about her frustrations, questioning what it takes to be inducted. Despite these feelings, Cher’s induction on her first nomination marks a significant milestone in her career. She had been eligible since 1990, 25 years after the release of her first album, All I Really Want to Do.
