In a recent interview with the Rock of Nations podcast, Paul Stanley opened up about the emotional challenges of no longer touring with KISS. Stanley admitted, “I was gonna use the word ‘adjustment.’ There’s no way to give that up and not feel a sense of, if not lost, kind of disoriented.” He acknowledged that while the decision to stop touring made sense intellectually, it has been emotionally challenging. Being at home feels normal, but the realization that he won’t be returning to the stage is a huge change.
Paul said that KISS as a band continues to thrive, particularly with their innovative KISS avatar show. He reflected on the personal impact of stepping away from live performances, noting that seeing videos from their last shows feels like looking back on a different lifetime. Stanley has come to terms with the fact that while the persona of ‘Star Child’ will always be a part of him, his days of performing on stage are over.
Despite the band’s previous farewell tour with the original lineup, which saw them part ways with Ace Frehley and Peter Criss, Stanley’s comments suggest that anything is possible in the future. Although he hasn’t performed since the final show on December 2nd last year, Gene Simmons and his band have continued to tour this year.
