Elton John is determined to make the most of his remaining eyesight, despite the challenges he's facing. In an interview with The Guardian, Elton shared his optimistic outlook, saying, "I’m an optimist permanently. I’ve got bad eyesight at the moment. There have been days where I’ve been miserable, but then I think about how lucky I am."
Last summer, Elton's right eye became infected, leading to limited vision and eventually blindness in that eye. His left eye isn't much better, leaving him with significant visual impairment. Despite these setbacks, Elton remains hopeful and determined. He said, "I’ve overcome a lot. This is not going to beat me. I’ve beaten addiction, I’ve beaten health issues, and I can pick myself up and dust myself off." His resilience and fighting spirit are truly inspiring.
Elton acknowledges the difficulties he faces, especially when it comes to his music career. He mentioned that recording and reading lyrics have become challenging due to his vision loss. However, he remains focused on finding ways to improve his sight and adapt to his new reality. "There’s hope and encouragement that it will be okay," he said. "But at the moment that's really what we're concentrating on."
