Queen fans are ready for new music

In a recent interview with Mojo magazine, Brian May hinted that new music from Queen "could happen." He shared that both he and Roger Taylor are constantly writing and coming up with ideas in their studios. Brian mentioned, "I could have the beginnings of a Queen song right there in front of me now. It’s just whether the idea reaches maturity or not. It’s whether that seed can grow."

Queen's last studio album with Freddie Mercury was 1991's Innuendo. After Freddie's death, the band released Made in Heaven in 1995, which was a compilation of previously recorded material. When Queen regrouped with Paul Rodgers, they released The Cosmos Rocks in 2008. In 2019, while on tour, Brian, Roger, and Adam Lambert went into a studio, but the project stalled. Roger later told Mojo magazine in 2021 that "Brian suddenly lost interest and I don’t really know why. We started it in Nashville when we were all quite tired. We couldn’t decide on a title, and the lyric felt a little too negative for Queen, maybe. But it was pretty good, and I hope it comes to light."

The only album released with Adam Lambert fronting the band was 2020's Live Around the World. At that time, the trio spoke about the possibility of recording new music. Roger Taylor expressed, "I think one, we would need a couple of one or two killer songs. But I think it is a great idea given those songs." Adam Lambert added, "It's trickier than it actually sounds. ’Cause it’s like, what is it called? Is that Queen? Is that still what we're billing the tour as? Is it some new super group name?" Brian May concluded, “I think if the moment arrives. That’s the only answer you can give really. If a moment came [where] we thought, ‘Yes, we need to do this for this occasion.’ And here’s the song and here we are.”
