Former REO Speedwagon bassist Bruce Hall has shared his thoughts on the recent controversy surrounding the band's former singer, Kevin Cronin, and his absence from their upcoming reunion show. The event, set for June 14th in their hometown of Champaign, Illinois, has sparked some tension, with Cronin expressing his disappointment at not being included. Hall took to Facebook to clarify the situation, stating that all members, including Cronin, were invited to participate back in January. He emphasized that Cronin has not been accused of turning down the invitation and has been asked to join virtually.
Hall went on to explain that the reunion show was designed to bring together the founding members, original singers, and the classic REO lineup for a final farewell. This special event is meant to honor the memories of guitarist Gary Richrath and bassist Gregg Philbin. Hall expressed his hope that Cronin would choose to participate, highlighting the significance of the occasion for both the band and their fans.
Proceeds from the reunion show will go to the REO Speedwagon fund for rare GU Cancer Research at Moffitt Cancer Center, the hospital that saved his son's life. Hall, along with Neal Doughty and Alan Gratzer, is not receiving any payment for the performance.
